VW Golf MK6 Headlining Retrim
Rich retrimmed the headlining in his VW Golf MK6 using one of our black headlining kits.
A clean headlining retrim using stretch suede. It's easier to work into tighter areas than foam-backed material.
What was used
- Black Headlining Kit
- 3 metres black stretch suede (headlining and pillars)
- 2 cans Trim-Fix spray adhesive
Before starting
Rich had previously done MK5 Golfs using foam-backed material.
He found it difficult around:
- interior light areas
- pillar edges
He wanted to know if the stretch suede would handle those tighter areas better.
Why he chose stretch suede
Our stretch suede is:
- 0.8mm thick (similar to OEM Alcantara)
- made with a small amount of stretch
This helps:
- work into recesses and curves
- avoid bunching around lights and edges
- easier to re-fit panels
Fitting notes
Rich also asked about creases from packaging.
- creases will stretch out during fitting
- or you can drape the material over the board before installing
Once stretched and bonded, the finish comes out smooth.
Result
The finished headlining came out clean and tight across the full board. Including the more difficult areas.

“Really nice-looking material. Stretched perfectly on my golf mk6 headliner, really happy with the adhesive. 100% will be using this again probably in my camper. The finished result looks high quality”
