Rover 75 Saloon Headlining Retrim in Charcoal
This project shows a Rover 75 Saloon. The original headlining was retrimmed using our Charcoal Headlining Kit.
The Rover 75 is known for sagging headliners over time. Especially where the original foam backing starts to break down. A new headlining can refresh the interior without changing the character of the car.
What Was Used
Kelvin chose our Charcoal Headlining Kit, which includes:
- 3 metres of Charcoal Stretch Auto Suede
- 2 cans of Trim-Fix high-temperature spray adhesive
This gave him enough material to cover the full headliner board.
Choosing the Right Amount
Before ordering, Kelvin asked whether 2 metres would be enough for his Rover 75 Saloon.
For this model, 3 metres is the safer option. It allows:
- Comfortable coverage of the full headlining panel
- Room for trimming and handling
- Less stress during fitting
Ordering slightly more material makes the job easier.
Foam-Backed Headliner Question
Kelvin also asked whether stretch suede could be used to replace a foam-backed original headliner.
Once the old foam is removed and the surface is properly prepared, our stretch suede works well as a replacement. The fitting and installation over curves and contours is easier than foam backed.
The Trim-Fix spray adhesive is included in the kit. It provides strong, heat-resistant bonding when applied correctly.
About the Installation
For this Rover 75:
- Preparation was key, especially removing the old foam backing
- Working in sections helped keep the material smooth
- Using a full 3 metres allowed for confident fitting
The finished result brought the interior back to a clean, well-kept standard.
