Jaguar XJS Headlining Retrim in Black

This project shows a Jaguar XJS.

The headlining, C-pillars and roof rails were retrimmed using black stretch suede. This replaced the original material and refreshed the interior.

The XJS has a detailed headlining shape with recesses and curves. Choosing a material that stretches well makes the job easier to manage.

What Was Done

  • Vehicle: Jaguar XJS
  • Areas retrimmed:
    • Headlining
    • C-pillars
    • Roof rails
  • Material used: Black Stretch Suede

How Much Material Was Used

  • Total used: 3 metres

Three metres was enough to cover the full headlining, pillars and rails. Leaving excess for trimming and working into the panel.

About the Installation

For this Jaguar XJS:

  • Stretch suede helped when working into the recesses of the headliner
  • The material could be shaped around curves
  • Completing the pillars and rails in the same material kept the interior consistent

Taking time during fitting helped achieve a clean, even finish across all areas.

No Foam-Backed Underlay Required

Like the vast majority of our customer, they chose not to use our foam-backed stretch suede.

The Stretch Suede material itself provided enough:

  • Thickness
  • Structure
  • Flexibility

This can simplify the job. Especially on more detailed headliners where extra layers can make fitting harder.

Customer Feedback

After completing the retrim, the customer shared:

“Great product, done a Jag XJS headliner and C pillars and rails with it, no underlay required. Material was thick enough and had plenty of stretch to be worked into the recesses of headliner. Well priced too. Would recommend to anyone considering doing a similar job, big thanks!”
